Format: 150/150 cm, Acrylic paint on canvas
I have been following the work of the Indonesian artist Nana Tedja for years. Her paintings fascinate me. However, as an artist she plays in a different league to me, exhibits internationally and unfortunately I can't afford her paintings. Some time ago I saw that her son Michael Tico is also active as an artist, and his paintings inspire me just as much with their intensity, spontaneity and vibrant colours. I spontaneously contacted him recently and after some back and forth I decided to buy one of his paintings. From a small selection of works, all of which I liked very much, I finally decided in favour of a painting of an angel. I thought that with the current political situation in the world and so close to Christmas, it would be good to have an angel in my home...
To my great delight, the angel arrived this week after a long journey with DHL. Unrolled and in full size, it was even more impressive than in the photos I had seen so far. On the same day, I mounted the canvas on a stretcher frame and hung the painting in its final place. I'm still taking some time to decide whether to frame the painting or leave it as it is. In any case, I think the painting is fantastic and I'm really pleased with it.
